09-11-2011: Health and Social Care Bill films for BMA
The British Medical Association represents doctors in negotiations with the policy-makers over reforms to the NHS. They asked their members to get in touch with any concerns they had about the Health and Social Care Bill proposals and many came back to them with front-line examples of how their work with patients might change. The BMA asked LimeGreen to follow up on these stories, interviewing doctors at their places of work and turning their thoughts into films which could be used on their website. After a two day shoot in five locations and four days editing, we're pleased with the look of these films. Why not take a look for yourself and let us know what you think?

25-03-2011: Andrew Lansley is interviewed by Sharon Alcock
LimeGreen interviewed Andrew Lansley for the second time in as many weeks, this time for Doctors.net.uk. Putting questions from members of the medical profession to the Health Secretary, Sharon Alcock was able to use her specialist knowledge as a health journalist to get right to the heart of issues concerning patients and NHS staff.
In bullish mood, the Health Secretary said "Do people have concerns? Sometimes they have legitimate concerns... I have to say that some of them have been concerns which actually, I look at it, I look at the Bill, I look at our policies, I know that they are saying they’re worried about something, but it’s not valid."
And went on to say: "I don’t think that, because the trade unions might be having a go... that it’s necessarily representative of the views of people across the country.”
Answering doctor's accusations that the Health and Social Care Bill is actually privatisation by the back door, Andrew Lansley said: “It’s not about privatisation and that won’t be the end result. I’d like someone to explain to me why they think privatisation is a consequence, because it isn’t a consequence of what I’m proposing, it isn’t a consequence of the Bill... We have now made it very clear, by amending the legislation, that Monitor will not be able to advantage the private sector relative to NHS providers. I want there to be competitive neutrality.”
"I have more confidence in the NHS providers than it seems most questions seem to imply! I think that when we actually have the NHS, the private sector and others providing services, that the NHS, given the freedoms we’re going to give them, are perfectly capable of delivering the best quality services and I think patients, GPs and others who will be making decisions about who provides those services, will support their NHS providers and they will do well.”

The interview was promoted by specialist organisations: the King's Fund, The Nuffield Trust, the BMA, the HSJ and PharmaTimes and covered by the Guardian newspaper.
18-03-2011: Breast Cancer Patient Information
Research has shown that patients - when facing potentially serious health issues and treatment - are reassured by other patients' first hand experience. LimeGreen specialises in using real people to document important health information for others.
The films, sponsored by Breakthrough Breast Cancer, will address the questions many women and men have when discovering a breast lump or being referred for treatment for cancer and/or surgery.
Specialist staff at Bath's Royal United NHS Trust's Breast Unit will also feature in the resources, which will be made available on DVD and the web.
The stills-audio format - which puts quality audio interviews together with professional photographs - has been chosen by the unit's staff because they feel it is less intimidating for the viewer and those agreeing to record their experiences.
LimeGreen are privileged to be asked to produce these films. We always enjoy working on projects with such a potentially valuable end result.
We look forward to publishing the five films in June.
07-03-2011: Secretary of State for health live LimeGreen interview
More than two hundred questions were submitted via the web and Twitter by doctors regarding the Health and Social Care Bill before parliament. Many of the questions came from GP's who will be responsible for £80billion NHS budget from next year. Others were from hospital consultants concerned at being cut out of the budget decisions.
In all, Sharon was able to put around thirty named questions to the Minister. It's something she passionately believes in:
"I regard the access I get to Ministers as a privilege. Many doctors, who will be behind any success achieved in NHS reforms, would love the chance to ask detailed questions of the people making decisions about future healthcare. Through interviews like this one I am able to act as a conduit and put very real concerns and queries from named doctors who work on the frontline of our NHS to the Secretary of State. It's one of the most important communication roles I undertake, both for the doctors and for the government, in my mind."
